Sheath and core compound with cUR

TPE compounds for +120 °C / +125 °C

Engine compartments, control cabinets, machines with increased ambient temperatures: where things get permanently hot, cross-linked or fluorinated materials have mostly been used until now – expensive, complex and not recyclable.

Our new TPE sheathing and TPE core compounds offer significant advantages over other plastic compounds in the temperature range up to +120 °C (CSA +125 °C): cUR-approved, flame-retardant, extremely thin-walled and non-cross-linked.

TPE sheathing compound

  • UL AWM Styles 22331, 22332, 22333, 22334, 22335 and 22336 (36 AWG to 9 AWG, 0.014 mm² to 6 mm²).
  • Shielded and unshielded versions.
  • Flame tests VW-1 and FT1.
  • Low space requirement due to extremely thin wall thicknesses: 0.6 mm (25 mils) up to 1,000 V.

TPE core compound:

  • UL AWM Styles 11958, 11959 and 11960 (all +120 °C or +125 °C), as well as Styles 11150 (+105 °C, 300 V) and 11856 (+105 °C, 1,000 V)
  • 30 AWG to 6 AWG (0.05 mm² to 16 mm²)
  • all styles also for ‘Internal Wiring’
  • Wall thickness 0.2 mm (8 mils)
  • Flame-retardant according to UL 1581 / CSA C22.2 No. 210: horizontal flame test FT2
  • Meets ISO 6722 ‘needle abrasion’ depending on cross-section

The cost-effective alternative to cross-linked and fluorinated products. With cUR approval, extremely thin wall thicknesses and temperature class C according to ISO 6722.

Features:

  • Cost-effective alternative to cross-linked or fluorinated products
  • cUR approval for the temperature range –40 °C to +120 °C / CSA +125 °C
  • Automotive sectors of temperature class C according to ISO 6722 (–40 °C to +125 °C)
  • Voltage classes 300 V, 600 V and 1,000 V
  • Low space requirement due to extremely thin wall thicknesses: sheath 0.6 mm (25 mils) up to 1,000 V, core 0.2 mm (8 mils)
  • Shielded and unshielded versions

Further properties:

  • Excellent ageing properties – decrease in tensile strength and elongation at 158 °C / 7 days below 25%
  • Good flame retardancy – due to halogenated material components; sheath VW-1 and FT1, core FT2
  • Very good chemical resistance
  • LABS-free – free from paint-wetting impairment substances
  • ATEX-compliant – depending on the structural design
  • No cross-linking, therefore recyclable
  • Ideally suited for static and dynamic applications – due to good bending and flexing properties

Applications:

  • Applications with increased ambient temperatures
  • Automotive sectors of temperature class C according to ISO 6722 (–40 °C to +125 °C)
  • Internal wiring, e.g. in control cabinets
  • Dynamic applications and areas with mechanical stress
