Miniaturisation of special cables
When the installation space dictates the design, every micrometre counts. We have optimised conductor cross-sections and core structures to such an extent that special cables can now be used where there was previously no room.

When every micrometre counts
To illustrate: a human hair measures about 50 to 100 µm. The complete insulated single core is around 300 µm, which corresponds roughly to the thickness of three sheets of paper.
Cross-sections from:
- 0.008 mm² – 300 mm²
- AWG 38 – 600 kcmil
Outer dimensions:
- Ø from 0.3 mm – 40 mm
- W x H up to 80 mm x 20 mm
Where miniaturisation creates scope:
- Compact assemblies with narrow cable ducts.
- Sensor technology in the smallest of spaces.
- Miniaturised devices and end effectors.
- Applications with high core counts and limited total diameters.
Developed, manufactured and tested at Kabel Sterner.
Conductor structure, insulation material and the manufacturing process all originate in-house. This allows us to design all three parameters together for your specific application, instead of simply selecting an existing cable at the end.
And it could potentially get even smaller
The values mentioned reflect the current state of development and are not necessarily the technical limit. We are currently investigating further miniaturisation steps. These must be tested and qualified for the respective design and application.
